This brutally honest, 224 paged book is the type of “self-help” book you need to really reflect on your life. Lindsay Manfredi, bassist of the alternative rock band, Cold, had completed this book after the band’s tour was postponed due to the pandemic.
“Working on the road on something other than music and fan connection is extremely difficult, since I’m not that focused. And while not touring sucks for the time being, this quarantine gave me the chance to actually focus on the completion of the book, which has been four years in the making.”
In a curious time where people are discovering themselves and new hobbies, it seemed that this book was released at the perfect moment. Looking back on her own life, including living through abuse and bullying, and detailing how her past experiences had given her valuable life lessons, Manfredi provides a refreshing look at life, helping the readers learn how to enjoy their own.
The chapter titles alone tell you to get your shit together, and I love that about the book. There is no “wasted space”, Manfredi go straight to the point every time.
It’s the hard lessons such as forgiving yourself, letting relationships go, and the suggestions to get through tough situations while simultaneously weaving personal accounts are what make this book so remarkable. It’s hard to put the book down, but it’s even harder applying what you learned into your own life. It all takes time.
