UK dream duo Jungle graced the Fox Theater stage last week, and I was ecstatic to cover this show. A long-time fan of their work, Jungle exceeded all expectations. While in the photo pit for the first three songs I could see the entire crowd go wild as soon as the artists and their backup band stepped onto the stage. Yelling along to their relaxing music seems contradictory, but the crowd added a sort of electricity to each song that created a new layer to the performance.
Their performance placed more emphasis on how they sounded rather than how they looked. The duo, for the most part, was stationary. While I’m used to artists running around the stage, it was a nice change of pace to just dance around with friends and strangers rather than having my eyes glued to the performer.
Leaving “Casio” as the encore song was a great way to end a show. As one of their most popular songs it summarized the chill yet upbeat night that we as an audience had. I left this show satisfied. For those who may have just gotten into the band or have been with them since the beginning, it’s definitely worth seeing them perform live.
