If there is a song to describe the perfect theme for an adult coming-of-age movie, it’s Dawson Fuss’ newest single “Nothing Really Changes”.
“Nothing Really Changes” explores the idea that childhood trauma, problems, etc. never truly end – they simply evolve into more matured, complicated adult issues. Being twenty-two, I look back on my younger years and mourn the childhood ignorance I once had and how now, so many years later, life can feel so heavy. This song, while having devastating lyrics, is an upbeat tune and another hit song from Fuss.
I mentioned that this track would be perfect for an adult coming-of-age movie, and why aren’t there more of those? Movies where people in their twenties are still figuring out their lives, how to survive on their own, and how to grow into a “good, successful” adult. Better yet, what does that even look like?
“Nothing Really Changes” was released on April 4th, and you definitely will want to give this a listen – especially if you find yourself in a similar mindset.
