Introduce yourself to our readers: Who are you, What do you do, Interests, Hobbies, etc.
I’m just a normal guy, who enjoys things like the NBA, Formula 1 and good food. Well and I get to call making music my job. I’m Topic, a 29 y/o producer, songwriter and DJ. You might have heard some of my tracks like “Breaking Me,” “Your Love (9PM)” or “Chain My Heart.”
I like to be in the studio for days but also like to go and party! My go-to drink when I’m out and on tour is Jägermeister. If you never tried it with Fanta – do so!!!
I hear that this run of shows will be your first time performing in the US. How do you feel about it?
I’ve been to the US quite a lot of times in the past, but mostly only for sessions, “Breaking Me” was even finished in a songwriting session in the states together with A7S. It is therefore a dream come true to be able to play it in front of people here. It’s a great feeling and I’m really looking forward to the last shows of this run. However, further dates are already being worked on, so I’m definitely coming back!
What is your favorite thing about the US so far? How have the performances been?
The performances have been great so far. I must say, my favorite thing in the US are the people. I’ve been welcomed so warmly and with such encouragement. The energy I’ve felt at the gigs was insane!
What can fans expect from your show?
My shows are very energetic sound wise combined with matching visuals to make it a full experience rather than just another DJ playing a set. It is a mixture of my Melancholic Dance Music hits, my favorite go to track edits, mixed with a little influence of Melodic Techno.
How has it been collaborating with industry stars such as Lil Baby, A7S, Bebe Rexha, and Becky Hill now on your latest song?
Sound wise they are all very different and that’s what made it so much fun. I’m glad to have got to know every one of them. Bebe Rexha for instance was very hands on in the creative process of the music video. She’s been in the industry quite some time and knows exactly how things are done. She put her whole heart in it, which made it very personal. I’ve been working with A7S for several years now and he’s become a very close friend!
Is there an artist you would love to collaborate with that you haven’t already?
I couldn’t possibly name just one. I have a long list, which I’ve been lucky to already shorten as I have worked with some of them in the last couple of years. One who’s still high on the list now is Jon Bellion.
Where do you see yourself in a few years? Any personal goals?
In a few years I see myself playing gigs without having to worry about the pandemic anymore. 😀
At the moment my set consists of maybe 30% my own tracks and 70% of other artists, I’m working on my goal of increasing that number to a much higher level and plan to release club records along with the commercial tracks.
Lastly, where can our readers follow you and keep up with your music?
