James Lanning “Berlin Blue” Review

On February 28th Hip-Hop/Rap artist James Lanning released his latest single titled “Berlin Blue.”

“Berlin Blue” has been described as “drab” and while yes, that it is pretty accurate, I personally take this song as things that needed to be said about mental health. James Lanning has described this song as “a vomit of weltschmerz, obsessive-compulsive disorder, malaise, and self-pity swallowed by the river Spree in Berlin.”

Lyrics aside, the music really puts you in this vibe of when you’re numb, no emotions, and just going through the movements. Then, when you bring in the lyrics, you can definitely tell that that was the whole point. Lyrics like “In rotation, trying to walk a straight line with no face, and no brain, and blank eyes,” “Hibernate and wake up when my pride’s fully decayed,” and “I’m not myself like I’m only borrowing it today” are all perfect examples of this. This track is no doubt worth listening to. Every one of us goes through times that are dark and painful, and it’s always refreshing to find music that speaks on things you can relate to.

You can find “Berlin Blue” and the rest of James Lanning’s discography anywhere you stream music!
