I haven’t seen the crowd at Regency Ballroom in San Francisco so riled up in a while. You shouldn’t expect anything less at a Joey Valence & Brae concert. They were the best set I saw at Capitol Hill Block Party last year, and are potentially the best show I’ve seen this year.
This show was a whirlwind of mosh pits, hyped-up performances, and yelling along to each song. The entire crowd, including those in the balcony, moved along to the music. Joey Valence and Brae constantly jumped from one end of the stage to the other, almost using the venue as their playground. The crowd’s eyes were glued to them as they repeated these animated movements.
Even if you haven’t listened to their recent album HYPERYOUTH, you will still have an amazing time at this show. JVB’s setlist was a perfect mix of older classics and new releases. Hearing “Punk Tactics” live again was something I could not describe. The room felt more alive than it already was as soon as the first note played. This is a song that must be experienced in an environment like this.
