Looks Like Jordan Ward Has A “Lil Baby Crush”

“She look like 90’s R&B, Her friends like SWV” is the opening line to the latest single from St.Louis rapper Jordan Ward called “ Lil Baby Crush”. Ward makes it known in the song that he has feelings for a girl who happens to be in the same friend group as him. “All these years never said a thing, knowing me it’s probably not hard to tell” refers to him stating that she knows him pretty well personally to be able to tell that he has a crush on her although he hasn’t said anything yet. He uses creative references in his lyrics to describe her appearance which correlates to how he feels about her.

The melody of the song is very uptempo and gives summertime California vibes. It’s one of those songs that makes you wanna grab a couple of friends and go cruising in the car with them late at night just to catch a vibe. The song itself just makes you wanna get up, jump around, and just have a good time. The visual to the video brings even more of an energetic feel. It’s like watching a rom-com movie in a modern R&B musical.

Ward, who first started his career as a dancer, even shows off his dance moves in the music video. Throughout the video, you can see Ward engaging with the lead female interest in a few scenes insinuating that he has a crush on her but is just scared to tell her. I enjoyed the music video because it reminds me of my first year of college when Fridays were the days to find a party to attend. Everyone is just having a good time and not having a care in the world of what exactly is going on but vibing. Ward definitely has a great summertime song under his belt.
