I had never seen the New Parish venue this packed before. On Friday, February 11th, I had the pleasure of watching Kate Bollinger open for Faye Webster at the sold out New Parish show.
The Richmond, VA based artist creates music that soothes an old soul. While her songs deal with personal situations and emotions that surface while finding her place in the world, Kate Bollinger encourages her audience to create their own meanings and connect in their own way.
Her performance in itself was incredible. Kate Bollinger wen straight into her set the moment she and Real Estate stepped onto the stage. She started off with a smooth, calming tune that slowly built up in tempo. I felt that this was the perfect way to start her set as it warmed up the crowd. The second song felt like a warm summer’s breeze on a calm day. I could imagine myself laying out in a field of flowers.
The fourth song of the set was “Je Rêverai à Toi” which translates to ” I will come back to you”. While listening to this live rendition I felt that I was at a prom in the 70s and the slow dance song just came on.
The final song of Kate Bollinger’s set was more upbeat than the others. It left everyone with a warm feeling in their heart. If you’re looking for a show to vibe to, I highly recommend seeing this artist.
