Since the release of her debut album in 2018, US-based singer-songwriter Lauren Lakis is no stranger when it comes to being creative with her music. Her brand new album Daughter Language released on the 22nd of January, is an interesting album – with it’s dark vibes, it’s bound to become addictive to listeners. From the first song to the last, we are transcended and left wanting more from this talented artist.
The first half of this album will drag you in with its eerie yet engaging vibes. One song after another will make you feel like you’re the lead in a movie and this is your soundtrack. Through these songs, haunting tones are projected through the vocals which add to the vibe and the energy is raw which listeners will appreciate.
“Better Lover” is a definite highlight track in the album as it showcases the (haunting) vocals followed by the shoegaze guitar chords that intertwine perfectly together creating a flawless track. While the verses in the song are strong, the chorus becomes stronger and will linger in your mind from the first time you hear it.
Overall Daughter Language can only be described as unique as it has the ability to become addictive with its dark and eerie vibes but will take you on a journey towards the end. I think listeners will be able to appreciate this album as a whole as it’s very creative and will catch attention. Definitely give this one a listen!
