Providence, Rhode Island-based band Lookers has just released a new single from their upcoming LP Deeper. “Midnight TV Dinner” is an energetic single that sets the tone for what the audience should expect from this album.
The music video has a Last Supper set-up in front of a green screen while a recording of the band performing plays on a CRT TV. The set devolves to the band chaotically eating the meals in front of them. It continues with various food items like eggs (in this economy?) thrown around and ends with the band sitting around the TV admiring the chaos around them. It’s a darling music video that matches the energy of the song.

How does it feel to have your debut LP released in just two months?
We’re excited to set it free. It’s a proud moment, watching it hatch.
With post-punk, disco, and pop influences in your work, were there any aspects of Providence, Rhode Island that shaped your sound?
Providence is a grungy little city full of beautiful people. There isn’t a signature sound to our music scene here, but rather a signature attitude that can be hard to describe. Something rebellious yet refined. A shot of heart and energy that I think our band represents in our best moments.
While listening to “Midnight TV Dinner” I felt like I was taken back to the 70s. What era best describes your music?
The era that will begin in two months when this record drops.
Just kidding. Maybe like 1980 or 2001? Maybe I just listened to The B-52s and The Strokes today? Who knows.
What was the deciding factor for making “Midnight TV Dinner” the first track on Deeper?
Our tracklist is very close to the set list we play live. Midnight TV Dinner has an opening riff that acts as a good “dinner” bell to call people back inside from their cigarettes when we start our set.
