Maisie Peters was a sight to behold at The Chapel in San Francisco on March 29th. I had just started listening to her discography, as well as her opener Jonah Kagen, and after this performance, I can truly say I’m a fan of both. The two artists were vibrant on stage – the smiles never dulled on their faces. I had an incredible time seeing them perform, and I’m ecstatic to share what I experienced with you all.
If You don’t know who Maisie Peters is, allow me to introduce you to her. She is a London-based singer-songwriter who had recently released her debut album You Signed Up For This to critical acclaim. Atwood Magazine called it “timely, yet timeless”, a perfect description of this album.
With her opener Jonah Kagen, he kept his performance lighthearted and captivating. He was surprised by the crowd’s laughter when he sang the line “fight with your mother.” To allure the lively crowd he had changed one of the lines in his song to “I’d rather be in [SF] with you”. Beforehand he had asked to crowd if San Fran was the preferred abbreviation (which according to San Francisco natives it is not). He then followed with the calming “Drowning” and “Turbulence” and ended his set with the first song he ever wrote: “Broken”.
Maisie’s set was a blast. She tailgated the crowd’s energy after they practically yelled along to the show’s playlist by playing three upbeat songs in a row. She surprised the crowd by playing a snippet of “Cate’s Brother” after someone in the crowd asked her to play it. They all loved it.
I cannot say enough how much of a fun time I had at this show. If you have the chance, I would highly recommend attending one of Maisie Peter’s shows. Make sure to grab a ticket here. And check out her debut album You Signed Up For This on your preferred streaming platform.
