Mother Mariposa “Changing Shape” Review + Tour Announcement

Want a far out tune to get you through the middle of the week? Check out “Changing Shape” by Mother Mariposa, out now. Just released last week, it is a six-minute audiovisual trip into their wonderful, wild world. Hot off their recent debut album ‘The Monarch Key’, check out the amazing music video to accompany it.

The song contains Gizmotron (a rare and unusual guitar) riffs, electric keyboards, bass, a jiving’ tambourine and whispered lyrics. As you listen, it feels like you’re going along for the ride in the Wild Wild West with its psychedelic electronica feel. This is post-punk brilliance in a modernized 80s landscape and it will surely take your senses to new heights.

In the music video, you follow the band on tour with ‘The Dandy Warhols’. As you listen, see if you can picture yourself moving past your thoughts and fears. This is their message to you. Candid shots of the band backstage and on the tour bus flash one after another, giving you a glimpse of that rock star life. Surrounded by their crew, tour mates, and better halves, dance into a brave new world with that infectious groove.

Mother Mariposa Tour Dates

Thomas Mudrick and Jsun Atoms make up Mother Mariposa. This is their newest project, just two years after coming together with Dan Fernie-Harper from New Zealand, and Oregon native, Trask Schulte. Their works have been featured on hit TV shows like ‘True Blood’, ‘Ray Donovan’, and ‘Sons of Anarchy’. Make no mistake that this track is one to add to your repertoire. Their five-piece band draws inspiration from international musical tastes from Vietnam, Morocco, and even the Sahara.

Mother Mariposa is on tour this month. They’re stopping in San Francisco, Sacramento, and Joshua Tree supporting Mercury Rev at the Desert Stars Festival. Coming back full circle to their hometown of Portland, find them at the Doug Fir in April. As a new band, they are doing well in blazing their own sonic trail in our world of music. Loaded with talent, they have remarkable pedigree with a fresh vibe to give you. If it’s not the music you adore, perhaps their outfits will lure you in for a closer look. So, what are you waiting for? Don’t delay and press play!

*Edit: Tour has been postponed due to Coronavirus Pandemic
