I felt like a full circle moment had occurred; I went from talking about bad eyebrows with Rebecca Black almost 10 years ago to photographing her show in San Francisco. It was surreal. This online personality that I’ve only briefly interacted with was now performing right in front of me. And she was incredible.
On Thursday, January 20th I had the amazing opportunity of covering Rebecca Black’s show at Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco, California. I was surprised to find out that this was her first headline tour.
She commanded the stage – or should I say stages. Her set up included two platforms with one having a dj booth and the other just being a regular lifted stage. Both had LED lighting with graphics that complemented Rebecca’s performance.
Her opener, Alice Longyu Gao, was the perfect choice as an opener. Joking that her set would just be a stand up act, which most of the crowd was open to, her nonetheless comedic timing and down to earth performance stole the hearts of new and old fans alike.
Fans of Hyperpop will certainly enjoy both acts. Make sure to experience this show yourself by buying a ticket. You can also live vicariously through my personal experience by viewing the gallery below!
