“Feel Better” Reminds Us To Enjoy The Moment

Music Video Directed by Adam Winn

Director of Photography: Dan Sripuntanagoon

Lady in Red: Sydney Schafer

Psych-Pop standouts, SWIMM, are here to paint you a beautiful picture in this daunting time. Their new single ‘Feel Better’ along with its accompanying video will help ease any tensions you may have.

The theme behind the track is solace and hope to a young LA woman who has fallen victim to “the cliches of men in Hollywood taking advantage of starry-eyed transplants for the first time”. That’s how vocalist, Chris Hess (a.k.a Cookie), likes to see it. We all know the anxiety of a courageous leap of faith in chasing a dream. LA is a weird city, full of hustle and bustle, and a vortex of a lot of emotions. You need to adapt when living there and sometimes it can take a toll on you personally. That journey is what SWIMM is trying to channel with this song. Guitars roll over a soul-soothing beat accompanied by carefully arranged synths. Close your eyes while you listen and imagine letting go of all your emotions, leaving the world behind. It’s ok to slow down, and do what feels good to you.

Well, this officially marks the launch of the group’s next chapter in their career. With a creative release like this, the video is even more empowering. In it, you find solace on an isolated beach. An aerial view of a lone woman shows her exploring the gentle break of waves, sandy beach, and towering bluffs along the Pacific. For me, this is always the perfect environment for finding peace in difficult times.

I think this song can relate to current 2020. For a moment, let us “feel better” with this. Its reassuring chorus can help you along.
