What I love about listening to the Marías is that their music takes you to a blissful, tranquil space. It’s the music that you listen to when you need to decompress. Hearing them live elevated this experience and made me feel at peace on my journey home.
The Marías are comprised of María Zardoya, Josh Conway, Jesse Perlman, and Edward James. On this tour, the group will be accompanied by Gabe Steiner on trumpet and Doron Zounes on bass. These artists have developed a bewitching presence. The simplicity of the stage production leans into their iconic minimalistic aesthetic. Zardoya utilized the extra space to engage with the audience by consistently going from one side of the stage to another and entering the pit to hold hands and serenade the front row.
Zardoya’s vocals were just as beautiful. Mixed with the bright trumpet playing of Steiner and perfect instrumentation from the band, their performance proved why the Marías are two-time Grammy nominees.
This was a bucket list show that checked off every box. If you’ve never seen the Marías live, now is your chance. Be sure to check out their remaining tour dates on their website. Want a sneak preview? Check out the full gallery from their opening night below.
