Nothing wants me to just drop everything and go outside to enjoy the California sun more than The Mowgli’s newest single.
The Mowgli’s are a Los Angeles based quintet composed of Joshua Hogan on vocals and guitar, Katie Jayne Earl on vocals, Matthew Di Panni on bass, David Appelbaum on keys, and Andy Warren on drums. Their music is infections; the harmonies, catchy instrumentation, and overall feeling of joy that exudes from each song are what make The Mowgli’s who they are.
The familiar sound of the group along with the mid-tempo combination of pop synth and indie rock make “Vacation” an all-around feel good song. I can see myself lounging poolside with a Piña Colada just an arms length away every time I press play.
What I had loved about the song were the sudden slow downs at the beginning of the chorus where it’s just Joshua Hogan’s voice and a simple guitar riff. It’s almost a metaphor for the calm one feels when they finally go one vacation after working nonstop.
I can’t get enough of this song. If you’re looking for something to get you in the summertime mood, “Vacation” is for you.
