The Reasons Tackle Complex Relationships In Debut Single “Compromise”

The Reasons

On Friday, January 24th The Reasons released their debut single “Compromise”. An upbeat indie rock track that’s sure to lift your mood. The Pennsylvania based band comprises of lead guitarist and vocalist Ryan Beckett, Zach Ninfo on drums, and Liam Meadowcroft on rhythm guitar, bass, and vocals.

The song itself discusses a complicated, one-sided relationship that the singer has with a particular girl. With lyrics such as “First you try to tell me that you made up your mind / you go back on your word a thousand times”, “you reach your hand to hold me but I just can’t be your guide”, and “I really want to help you but I just don’t have the time to compromise” shows just how tired Beckett is of this confusing relationship.

Love is never easy. “Compromise” perfectly depicts how unsteady modern relationships can be. It seems so common to make a melancholic track on this subject. But, rather than moping on about the situation, Beckett is trying to do something about it. This is reflected in the uptempo instrumental of the song. There aren’t any pauses or moments where the song slows downs to add drama. It’s a continuous track that tells the story of an experience we may have all encountered at one point in our lives.

The Reasons’ debut EP, Compromise, is set to release in 2020. You can find out more about them as well as follow their journey on their website.
