To Absent Friends are a Danish band whose haunting sound will leave you mesmerized. After a powerful debut with the single “If Tomorrow Dies” (2017), the group has been hard at work creating content for their freshman album Smoke & Mirrors.
Originally a duo, the group has since expanded to a quintet. They say that this expansion has helped in changing their sound. “To Absent Friends has evolved from a duo into a five pieced band. That has certainly shaped the sound of our next release, and it has a far more energetic and ‘live’-feel to it than the first piece we released .”
“If Tomorrow Dies” is a beautiful blend of a sort of 80s electronic meets alternative rock. The vocal harmonization and simplicity of the track allow for the listener to really take in the lyrics which deal with the fear of the unknown. I can’t wait to see what they come up with in their new album.
