SOPHIE’s influence is as strong as ever with these recent releases. Catering to the party crowd, these songs are just what this generation craves. They’re bouncy, experimental, and draw influence from music legends like Madonna. We wanted to share 5 songs we recently added to our pregame playlist that we think you’ll love.
Lion Babe – Fashion Week
Just in time for fashion week, the titled song by Lion Babe makes for the perfect runway backtrack. The duo was quoted in saying that “‘Fashion Week” is our lively, sassy soundtrack to one our favorite time of year. We wanted to create a song that embodies ‘Fashion Week’ in full force: the outfits, the parties, the atmosphere. It’s all about confidence and owning your power.” Hervey continues, “The supermodel era was so inspiring growing up. The way they all exuded self-assurance and adventure shifted my mind as a young girl and gave us a feeling to follow.”
Troye Sivan – Party
A mini movie filled with queer imagery, intricate costuming, and battle scenes? I’m all in. One commenter said that the fashion in this video is more accurate and better designed than some high production Netflix movies. I’ve replayed this song more times than I can count. It’s catchy melody and simple lyricism make it the perfect party track.
Rebecca Black – Anaheim Star
The aesthetically pleasing, three color motif in this minimalist music video allow the viewer to really focus on the music. Rebecca Black’s latest era provides continuity to the hyperpop, eccentric style of her previous album that is both more refined in a lyrical and ornamental sense.
Carly Rae Jepsen – Versailles
The genre switch a quarter through the song is an earworm in itself. Carly Rae Jepsen shows off her versatility in this new release ahead of her next studio LP. Paired with a cinematic, enchanting music video, the visuals and instrumentals will take you on a musical journey like no other.
ADÉLA – Nicole Kidman
A dreaming hit from this new pop darling graced our ears a few weeks ago. The fusion of Burlesque and circus imagery with a touch of charming references to the titled actress are showcased throughout the music video. We can’t wait to hear this song live at this year’s Portola Festival on Pier 80 in San Francisco.
