Showcasing artists going against the norm

Valley Releases End of Summer Anthem

“Oh shit… are we in love?” Well, are we? I know I’m in love with this song. Released on Friday, September 1st, the track follows that familiar upbeat tempo that we’ve come to know from the band while mixing a new emotion that they haven’t really dabbled with in the past. Lead singer Rob Laska had this to say about the single:

“‘Oh shit…are we in love?’ in a way feels like Valley’s first love song while simultaneously playing the role of an end of summer anthem. We find it’s sometimes tricky as songwriters to write about love in a form that feels honest but not too kitschy or on the nose.

We knew we wanted to write something that people can really sing with us live and make it a special moment. Lyrically, ‘Oh shit’ is about the realization that what you’ve been looking for the whole time has been right in front of you. The happiness of finding your person, whether that’s a significant other or a best friend or your dog.”

The layered vocals in the chorus on “Oh shit… are we in love” replicate the sort of experience you have when singing in a stadium; a thousand voices coming together to sing the main part of the song. It’s that happiness you feel when you hit those notes with the strangers next to you. Even when sitting at home listening to the track on your preferred music platform, Valley still finds a way to bring their fans together through their music.

Valley are a four-piece alternative-pop band who formed by accident. Back in 2016, Mickey Brandolino and Karah James were playing in one band and Rob Laska and Alex DiMauro were in another. They had come together when the studio the separate bands were supposed to play in double-booked them. Since then the self-writing, self-producing band has been making waves within the industry.
