LA-based alt-rock band, The Wrecks, have just announced the release of their sophomore album, Sonder, on June 10 via Big Noise Music Group. Prior to the album’s release, The Wrecks have delivered three singles from the tracklist thus far; “Lone Survivor”, “I Love this Part” and “Where Are You Now” featuring girlhouse.
These tracks provide a unique introduction for what’s to come from this group consisting of vocalist/producer Nick Anderson, Aaron Kelley (bass), Nick “Schmizz” Schmidt (guitar) and Billy Nally (drums). The first release, “Lone Survivor” is an upbeat, electronic, post-breakup anthem that will give you all the power you need to let go of your past lovers. “I Love This Part” showcases mellow guitar strings coupled with an explosive drumline, you can really feel their emotions with this one. Lastly, “Where Are You Now” featuring girlhouse, stands out among the other two releases as it is much more slow and gentle. Vocalist, Nick Anderson, went as far as mentioning that the “song’s creation process “haunted [him] for almost two years.”
Sonder will follow the release of the group’s debut EP We Are The Wrecks, their 2018 Panic Vertigo EP, their 2020 Static EP as well as their 2020 debut LP Infinitely Ordinary. The album overall will be reminiscent of the classic pop-punk music we all know and love, with a couple of tweaks – including distinctive witty, frantic genre-bending tracks, but also their take on mesmerizing alt-rock love/loss ballads proving their talents have matured and heavily evolved since their last long-form release.
The Wrecks are just getting started for the year and just before Sonder‘s release will be leaving for a headlining tour on June 9th with support from girlhouse and Mothé. Visiting cities across the country – Seattle, Chicago, NYC and Atlanta, just to name a few – the tour will conclude in Los Angeles on July 23rd. Make sure to grab your tickets to be the first to hear Sonder live as multiple shows have already sold out!
