Seattle’s hottest festival, Capitol Hill Block Party, has an incredible lineup this year! I’m excited to see headliners Cannons and Kaytranada, Flyana Boss, and Joey Valeance & Brae. I am also excited to see acts I’ve had a chance to check out in the past. Here are just a few:
Alice Longyu Gao
This artist has stayed on my radar since opening for Rebecca Black during her 2022 tour. Alice Longyu Gao is a genre-bending singer-songwriter and DJ who is not afraid to blend hyperpop with metal and rock influences. You may have heard her previous collaborations with PVRIS and Tommy Genesis, Oli Sykes, and Alice Glass. We are listening to the future of music. Believe the hype.
Chokecherry
Bay Area-based band Chokecherry has gained traction since I last saw them at Twin Shrieks festival last October. Touring around the country these last few months has not faltered the band in the slightest. I’m excited to see them again during their Friday set.
Remi Wolf
It’s always a treat seeing this performer live. Over the years, I’ve seen Remi Wolf perform at a sold-out 2,300 capacity venue to now playing in front of 8,000+ fans. Make sure to stretch before her set because you’ll be dancing through it.
COBRAH
I had a chance to capture Cobrah’s Portola afterparty at 1015 Folsom last October. Fighting back sleep, her 2 am set practically brought me back to life. This intimate set showed off the artist’s prowess as a performer. She’s captivating in every sense of the word. And I’m sure her headliner set at Capitol Hill won’t be any different.
Chappell Roan
The icon herself. My friends and I saw Chappell Roan at the independently run UC Theatre in Berkeley, CA at the end of last year. Since then, the slow-burn success that Chappell Roan cultivated has turned her into the incredible performer we know and love today. She has the stage presence, vocal range, and theatrics we’ve craved. As some have said, she’s bringing upbeat pop back. There’s no doubt that she’ll create an unforgettable experience on the Capitol Hill Block Party stage.
