Tinashe’s show at the Warfield on November 24 was not only the show of the month but potentially one of the year’s best shows. The sold-out venue emitted the same energy the artist was giving out. The backup dancers looked like they were having the time of their lives on stage.
I hoped that Tinashe would perform “All My Friends,” the song that got me into her work almost ten years ago. What was provided was a beautiful collage of fan interactions, photos, and encouraging comments playing on the three screens at the back of the stage while this track played. It was a great homage to the song and the beautiful audience Tinashe has cultivated through the years.
The last song of the set was her viral hit “Nasty.” It felt as if the venue shook with excitement the moment the song started. We were teased at the beginning of the show with a short remixed version of the song and again at the end before Tinashe came on stage. It was her presence that lit up the crowd. And the anticipation of finally hearing this song live propelled the audience to new heights.
